Scott Katz, who joined the firm in 2009, focuses his practice on both criminal Imagedefense and civil litigation.  Scott has worked on a wide variety of criminal and civil matters in state and federal court, both at the trial level and on appeal.

Before joining the firm, Scott served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Appeals Division of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office.  At the AG’s Office, Scott gained extensive experience in criminal appeals and federal habeas corpus litigation.  He also represented state-court judges, prosecutors, and other state officials in civil litigation in both state and federal court.  During his tenure at the AG’s Office, Scott briefed and argued appeals before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, the Massachusetts Appeals Court, and the First Circuit Court of Appeals.

Prior to working at the AG’s Office, Scott was a litigation associate at Goodwin Procter LLP in Boston.  At Goodwin, Scott worked primarily on large commercial litigation cases, and also helped defend several individuals facing charges in federal court.

Scott graduated magna cum laude from Boston University School of Law and obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan.  In addition to his law practice, Scott also teaches a legal research and writing class at Boston University School of Law.
